- Appears as a boss in the second wildlife sanctuary. Acquisition options are limited, but breeding is possible. On servers where it becomes contested, breeding may be worthwhile.
- Stats are very high with endgame-level numbers. Its large body makes it easy to get hit, which is a downside.
- Firefist Breathstorm, learned at level 35, is very strong for an Active Skill at that level. Overall Active Skills are strong.
- Can fly while ridden. It feels slow in practice, but reaches about mid-game land Pal movement speed.
- While mounted, damage to ores increases. Using Astegon's Active Skills while mounted makes mining easy. Mining durability does not decrease, so it works like a flying pickaxe. Recommended use: land the punch from Firefist Breathstorm, then use the breath portion to break remaining ore.
- At base it works as a sleepless Mining 7 Pal. It is very strong, but Blazamut (Kindling 6, Mining 7) and Knocklem (Mining 7, Transporting 7) also exist, so Astegon is not the only choice. It is unquestionably strong while sleepless.
