How to Breed Pals in Palworld

1

Unlock the Breeding Farm

Build the Breeding Farm at your base after unlocking it in the Technology tree.

2

Assign one male and one female Pal

Pick up each parent and assign it directly to the farm so both are registered.

3

Place Cake

Keep Cake supplied. Without Cake, the assigned parents will not produce an Egg.

4

Wait for an Egg

Let the farm finish the breeding progress, then collect the resulting Egg.

5

Move the Egg to an Incubator

Place the Egg in an incubator setup and wait for it to hatch into the child Pal.

Breeding Setup Checklist

Track the practical setup steps before you wait for a breeding result. Progress is saved in this browser.

How to Unlock the Breeding Farm

The Breeding Farm is the base structure that accepts two parent Pals and produces the Egg. Unlock it in the Technology tree, place it at your base, then assign one male and one female Pal directly to the farm.

How to Choose Parent Pals

Choose parents based on the target species, available passives and how much setup you want to do. If you already know the target child, use Find Parents mode to list every valid parent pair. If you only know one Pal you own, use Possible Children mode to see every compatible outcome.

Gender still matters

Use one male and one female parent in the farm. The calculator also preserves gender-direction outcomes where the dataset marks them as meaningful.

How Palworld Breeding Results Are Calculated

Parent A power

Parent B power

Average power

Closest breedable Pal

For standard combinations, Palworld normally determines the child by averaging hidden breeding power values from both parent Pals and matching the result to the closest breedable Pal. Fixed special combinations are handled separately from this standard formula.

Standard, Same-Species and Special Breeding Combinations

Power formula

Standard breeding

Most mixed-species pairs use the hidden breeding power of both parents. The game averages those values and selects the closest matching breedable child Pal.

Same species

Same-species breeding

Two parents of the same species usually produce that same species. This is useful when you want to preserve species while pursuing passives.

Fixed rule

Special combinations

Some fixed parent pairs always produce a specific child and can override the normal breeding-power result. Gender direction can matter for a small subset.

Palworld Breeding Cake Requirements

Cake is the gate for breeding progress. Put Cake where the Breeding Farm can use it, then confirm the parents stay assigned long enough for an Egg to appear.

  • Prepare Cake before assigning parents
  • Keep ingredient production stable
  • Check storage near the farm
  • Restock before long breeding sessions

Do not treat missing Cake as a formula issue

If no Egg appears, fix Cake supply and farm assignment before assuming the parent pair is invalid.

How Palworld Egg Incubation Works

Breeding Farm
Breeding Egg
Egg Incubator
Hatched Pal

Egg type

The Egg you receive determines the hatching context and final child produced from the breeding result.

Temperature

Temperature comfort can affect incubation behavior depending on Egg type and setup.

World settings

Single-player and server settings can change incubation speed, so timings may vary by world.

How to Breed Pals Faster

High impact

Keep Cake supply ahead

Automate ingredients and keep a buffer so breeding sessions do not pause.

High impact

Use clear farm placement

Give assigned parents room to path and stay attached to the Breeding Farm.

Medium impact

Run multiple incubators

Parallel incubation helps when several breeding projects produce Eggs at once.

World dependent

Check world settings

Incubation and server settings can change pacing when the world allows it.

How Passive Skill Inheritance Works

Passive skills can pass from parents to the child, which is why breeding is often used for long optimization chains. This site currently focuses on species outcomes, parent combinations, breeding paths and planning from owned Pals.

Tool scope

The calculator does not simulate exact passive probability, IV inheritance or mutation probability. Use it to find the species route first, then manage passive inheritance in game.

Palworld Breeding Guide FAQ

How do I breed Pals in Palworld 1.0?

Build a Breeding Farm, assign one male and one female Pal, supply Cake, wait for the Egg, then move the Egg to an incubator to hatch the child Pal.

How do I unlock the Breeding Farm?

Unlock the Breeding Farm from the Technology tree, then build it at your base with the required materials shown in your current game version.

Do I need one male and one female Pal?

Yes. A normal breeding setup needs one male parent and one female parent assigned to the Breeding Farm.

Why is my Breeding Farm not producing an Egg?

Check that both parents are assigned to the farm, that the parents are opposite genders, that Cake is available, and that the farm has enough clear space.

Does breeding require Cake?

Yes. Cake is required for the Breeding Farm to produce an Egg. Keep Cake stocked before waiting for a result.

How is the offspring Pal determined?

Most offspring are determined by averaging the hidden breeding power of both parents and choosing the closest matching breedable child. Fixed special combinations can override this rule.

What are special breeding combinations?

Special breeding combinations are fixed parent pairs that always produce a specific child Pal instead of using the standard breeding-power formula.

Can passive skills be inherited through breeding?

Passive skills can be inherited through breeding, but this guide and calculator focus on species outcomes, parent combinations and breeding paths rather than exact passive probability simulation.

How can I find every parent combination for one Pal?

Use Find Parents mode in the Palworld Breeding Calculator, or open a Pal breeding page such as /pals/anubis/breeding for a target-specific list.

How can I calculate a multi-generation breeding route?

Use the Breeding Path tool to choose starting Pals and a target Pal, then review the shortest known route from the current breeding data.
